It would seem that the Amen Break‘s name is well deserved. I read Michael S. Schneider's mathematical analysis of the break beat a while back. Now, somehow, it has made its way back into my head these last couple of days. I figured I have a small audience that might be interested in such things, why not share it with you guys?
Schneider was introduced to the Amen Break by a student of his. He recognized the famous sound right away. Though, he became really intrigued upon inspection of the waveform. He claims to have immediately recognized the golden ration in the structural patterns of the timing of the drum hits. His article gets well into the specifics and is definitely worth a read.

Each single slice can be triggered by it's own MIDI note. It can be rearranged with no limits, so that you can produce the Amen beat of your choice.
It has two types of amp envelopes, one main envelope, which has effect to all slices, and each single slice additionally has it's own envelope for more individual tweakings. It has a multimode filter, an ADSR filter envelope, two LFO's and an effects section with phaser, bitcrusher, distortion and a reverb. The slices can be played forward and reverse by velocity strength.
